When we’re slandered or wronged by vacuous or wicked people who are full of wickedness and distort the truth, it is good –if we can– not to want to be proved right, in front of other people, provided the injustice only has to do with us personally. Best not to say even ‘God will deal with them’, because that’s a curse in itself. The best thing is to forgive them wholeheartedly and to ask God to give us strength to bear the burden of the slander and to continue our spiritual life (in obscurity, as far as possible). Let those people continue, whose rule it is to judge and condemn, because all the time, in this way, they’re preparing golden crowns for us ...
