The divine word advises us to offer gifts to God, in order to show us His infinite goodness, as if He hadn’t given us anything beforehand and was receiving our offerings as gifts and attributing it entirely to us. In this way, He shoes that His goodness towards us is great and inexpressible, since He accepts as ours things which are His, but which we’ve offered. He says that He owes us, as if these things weren’t His in any case.
