I don’t know by what means or method I can bind this friend of mine (i.e. the body) and condemn him. Because, before I can bind him, he gets free and before I can condemn him, I’m reconciled to him. Before I can punish him, I feel sorry for him, become reconciled to him and soften towards him. How can I defeat him, whom by nature I love? How can I free myself from him to whom I’m bound eternally. How can I get rid of him, who will be raised with me? (Ladder 15, 83).

The unity of the soul and mind is what makes our human existence special. Never before has there ever been anyone else exactly like you. Nor will there ever be again.
