Those who sow in untilled soil lose the seed and harvest thorns instead of wheat. We, too, if we sow prayer in the soul but are solidly of the flesh, then, instead of good fruit, we’ll harvest sin. Prayer will be lost or will be sullied by worthless thoughts. Our flesh comes from the earth and, unless it’s cultivated, like the earth, it will never bear good fruit, the fruit of the truth.
