Extensive footage was posted this week on the pages of the Orthodoxia news agency of a tour conducted last September by the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, in the Caucasus country of Georgia. The All-Reverend Elder paid a series of visits to schools and universities in the country, meeting in particular with Georgian youth.
Pupils gathered in auditoriums to welcome the Vatopedi Elder, who gave spiritual addresses and homilies, and also touched on timely issues affecting and troubling today’s youth.
Among others, the Abbot of the venerable Mount Athos monastery visited the private Vasadze school, where the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi allocates scholarships for students to study there.
While there, the Elder Ephraim fielded questions from students dealing with their lives, as well as the tenuous time now faced by humanity.
The abbot of Vatopedi also spoke at the British-Georgian Academy to teachers, staff and pupils, referring to the concepts of love, forgiveness and patience, which should distinguish young people, while emphasizing that love for Christ should accompany the yearning for learning.
Many of the male students expressed a desire to visit semi-autonomous monastic community of Mount Athos.
