(Canon) It is the day of Ressurection & The Angel Cried- Anastaseos Imera & Aggelos Evoa – Valaam

Chanted by Valaam Monastery in GREEK. (Αναστάσεως ημέρα)

This is chanted during the service of the Ressurrection (Pascha-Easter) of the Greek Orthodox Church in the 1st Tone. When the verse of the canon finishes the priest says “Christ is Risen” and the faithful in the church shout out “Truly He is Risen” 3 times then the choir will chant Christ is Risen very quickly 3 times to go unto the next part of the canon.

At the end they chant:

The Angel cried to her in full of grace Rejoice, Again I say Rejoice for thy Son has risen from the grave on the third day..Shine, Shine O new Jerusalem for the glory of the Lord has shone upon thee Rejoice and be glad o sion Rejoice and be glad, And you, O Pure One, O Mother of God Exalt in the resurrection of your Son.
