In the monasteries it guards precious beauties
and in the foundations many sweats
not set on displays
not said easily.
A boat that travels, the Holy Mountain
with Athos for mast
the Transfiguration for flag
the Virgin Mary for anchor.
Helper and shelterer, holy Athos
I kiss you, God-beholding Teacher
On Greece’s temple
the cross on the dome is Athos.
In the holds it carries sacramental wine (nama), honey, bees-wax and frankincense
for the hungry of the narthex,
the wounded of the pews.
